Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available for a dedicated and proactive individual to become a part of the Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) as an Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner (ACP) or as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner.

Qualified ACPs will collaborate closely with a designated Respiratory Consultant for guidance, while trainee ACPs will engage in a thorough training program designed to help them attain the necessary ACP competencies under the supervision of an assigned Respiratory Consultant.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be tasked with the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of respiratory conditions in an outpatient environment, particularly focusing on pleural disease management. This role involves working alongside a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Health Care Professional
  • NMC/HCPC/GCP/GPhC Registration
  • Evidence of formal ongoing professional development
  • Successfully completed Advanced Practice Masters or equivalent apprenticeship standard
  • Evidence of teaching, supervision, and assessment skills
  • Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP)
  • Willingness to undertake ALS

  • IRMER Education
  • ALS Certification

  • Proven leadership and management experience in an acute environment

  • Experience or sound knowledge of change management in a leadership role
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively
  • Familiarity with current local and national issues

Desirable

  • Experience as a chief or principal investigator in research
  • Experience in developing advanced practice guidelines, governance, and audit
  • Experience in developing a Respiratory service

Aptitudes

Essential

  • Possess the skills and extensive clinical knowledge to function as an autonomous practitioner
  • Ability to operate independently to achieve strategic developments without direct supervision
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of protocols and policies in line with best evidence
  • IT literate
