About the Role

Climax Studios, a leading creative force in independent game development, is seeking an experienced Senior Environment Artist to join our team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating innovative and visually stunning environments for AAA titles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceive and create high-quality environment art assets, including 3D models, textures, and lighting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including art, design, and programming, to ensure cohesive and engaging game experiences.
  • Develop and implement art production pipelines and workflows to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, promoting skill development and growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, applying knowledge to improve our game development processes.
Requirements
  • At least 4+ years of experience in console game development, with a minimum of 2 shipped titles.
  • Proven track record of creating high-quality environment art, with a strong portfolio showcasing your skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of art production pipelines, including modeling, texturing, and lighting.
  • Experience with industry-standard tools, such as Maya, Unreal Engine, and Substance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with environment lighting and shading techniques.
  • Knowledge of scene composition and camera placement.
  • Ability to work in a lead or senior role, guiding junior team members and contributing to project planning.
  • Experience with iterative development and rapid prototyping.
