**Professional**: In the course of their work, the practitioner will: Provide advice and educational material to patients to promote their understanding Enter data appropriately Obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written) when appropriate Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained. Managerial: Contribute a paramedic perspective to the practice development plan. Facilitate the development of patient services in line with trends in General Practice Manage and organise individual patient consultations. Attend staff meetings.
Support the practice clinical governance agenda. Identify changes to clinical practice that are required to implement evidence-based guidelines. Educational: Identify personal development and training needs in conjunction with the Lead. Address personal development needs including FCP and ACP development.
Support others with their training and development needs. Participate in continuing education and maintain a contemporary level of professional knowledge and skills. Offer innovative ways of working and opportunities to facilitate learning. Personnel: Take reasonable care of his/her own safety and that of other persons who may be affected by his/her act or omission.
Co-operate with the practice to ensure all members of the team adheres to statutory regulations/policies and codes of practice and departments safety rules. Maintain a caring environment through the support of colleagues. Special Requirements of the Post: An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality. Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense.
A commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post. A commitment to ensure all Health and Safety requirements and Infection Control measures are met and to report any problems to the Practice Manager. A commitment to the effective use of practice and NHS resources. An awareness of own limitations and experience.
To work only in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct and within the Scope of Professional Practice. To have a written professional development plan and to maintain an up to date portfolio which meets the requirements of registration with the UKCC. To cooperate with annual appraisal meetings. Health & Safety: The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, to include: Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines. Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks. Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards. Reporting potential risks identified.
