Fellowship in Prehospital and Emergency Medicine

To develop the skills required to provide high quality clinical care to ill and injured patients in the pre-hospital environment, as part of a two year programme. To work within a multi-disciplinary team, as part of the doctor-critical care paramedic relationship, whilst also being an advocate for the overall work of the Charity.

To be employed full time by the Emergency Department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) and seconded to Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA), with a rota split on a 2 week alternating basis between both services, with overall work hours, annual and study leave split 50% between both services. Duties will be required at a range of locations, including John Radcliffe Hospital, Horton General Hospital, RAF Benson and Stokenchurch House (TVAA HQ).

To work as a PHEM doctor at Thames Valley Air Ambulance, providing pre-hospital emergency medical care on an overall full-time rota, including anti-social working hours commitment

To work as a Higher Specialty Trainee equivalent in the Emergency Departments of the John Radcliffe Hospital and Horton General Hospital

To engage with their clinical supervisors and attend training days for both EM and PHEM

Comply with the training requirements that mirror the IBTPHEM national training programme

Maintain a portfolio in line with the IBTPHEM curriculum requirements

Complete the DipIMC examination during the 2 year fellowship

Progress towards the FIMC eligibility certificate and subsequent examination

Attend and participate in TVAA’s clinical governance meetings

Contribute to TVAA’s organisational development through audit and project work

Support the ongoing development of TVAA’s critical care paramedics and their skills framework

Comply with all policies and procedures of both TVAA and OUH respectively

Complete Statutory & Mandatory Training as required
