**Summary**:

- The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) is an executive agency of the Department for Education (DfE). The purpose of the agency is to support employers, schools and headteachers with their safeguarding responsibilities by taking action on receipt of allegations of serious teacher misconduct and providing employers the opportunity to complete pre-recruitment checks to ensure that they are employing teachers who are appropriately qualified for their role.
- To support these requirements, the TRA has two operational teams:
- the Teacher Qualification Unit, and
- the Teacher Misconduct Unit

The advertised role will be based within the Teacher Misconduct Unit.**Job description**:

- This is an exciting role where you will be able to contribute to the TRA’s statutory responsibility in regulating the teaching profession and helping to safeguard pupils.- Casework Team
- The role of the Caseworker is to work with the Case Manager on a portfolio of cases relating to allegations of serious teacher misconduct. The Caseworker will take a proactive role in progressing cases ensuring that cases are progressed within expected timeframes and to a high standard. Caseworkers will routinely liaise with external legal firms which investigate cases on behalf of the TRA; speak with teachers, witnesses and other stakeholders.
- Hearings Administration and Stakeholder Team
- The role of the Caseworker will be to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of professional conduct panel hearings. This will involve a high degree of organisation. Caseworkers will liaise with professional conduct panelists, legal advisors and the casework team to schedule cases, and they will also act as the Hearings Clerk for virtual and in-person hearings, held in our Coventry office.
- General
- For both teams, the Caseworker will also ensure the case management system is kept up to date to reflect the current position of each investigation.-
- Please note that cases managed by the TMU may contain sensitive and/or disturbing material.- Your formal training as an apprentice will cover the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a highly competent caseworker, which is a great foundation for many careers. You will receive time in work to complete your training and receive regular feedback from your skills coach and managers.
- On completion of your apprenticeship, you will continue to be a Caseworker within the TMU.**Responsibilities**:

- For the Teacher Misconduct Unit, the role of the Caseworker will encompass a broad range of tasks and responsibilities. These will include:
- Completing administrative duties relating to assigned cases
- Managing a case work-load, keeping in line with Service Level Agreements and maintaining a user centred approach
- Contact with stakeholders including: teachers, witnesses, legal representatives and volunteer panellists
- Collaborating with internal colleagues to support the Professional Conduct Panel hearings
- Ensuring information about cases is kept up to date and secure.
- Work confidently with various information management systems
- Documenting decisions of and publishing the outcomes of hearings.
- Adopt an approach of continuous improvement in the caseworker role

- Assimilate large amounts of information and to make sound decisions by using all evidence, processes and procedures to support your judgement
- A pro-active, motivated and self-starting individual who is able to work with mínimal supervision. Can work quickly, efficiently and is able to balance competing priorities and deadlines
- Able to confidently communicate and influence in a range of styles with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders
- Be customer focused, understanding and being responsive to the needs and requirements of customers within the TRA, the wider department and externally.
