A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within our General Surgical Unit for a Band 6 Practice Educator.

You will be a Registered General Nurse who will have the ability to work using your own initiative and demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge in the surgical environment. Knowledge in a wide range of general surgical nursing skills is essential and a teaching qualification is desirable.

You must demonstrate skills necessary to assist the Senior Charge Nurse with team development at all levels, including clinical skills simulation, learning needs analysis and maintaining both mandatory and essential role training within the team while demonstrating sound leadership behaviours. You are expected to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be committed to providing evidence based care of the highest standard and be well driven and motivated.

You will be an organised individual, able to adapt to the needs of the service, our staff and people accessing our services and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment. You must be commitment to personal development, leading on quality improvement and managing the delivery of excellent, high quality learning opportunities for our team.

To allow the opportunity to experience our surgical unit and meet our staff, we are delighted to welcome potential new members of our team to our first face-to face ‘Meet the Team’ event providing time with our surgical nursing team, consultant colleagues and specialist nurses who will provide all the knowledge and information relating to our dynamic Surgical unit.
