Loram UK Ltd. is a part of Loram Maintenance of Way, a leading worldwide railway maintenance equipment and services provider. Loram UK Ltd offers a complete range of rolling stock engineering, and maintenance services, train operation services nationally, plus rail grinding systems and services across EMEA all coordinated from our 100,000 sq.ft of service facilities located in the heart of the rail industry in Derby on the RTC business park and our offices at Loram House on Pride Park.
Our ambitious growth plans have seen us recently be awarded new multi-million-pound contracts with Network Rail, with more in the pipeline. In addition, we are about to start building Rail Grinding Trains in Derby and continue to expand the Rail Grinding side of the business in the Middle East and Europe.
It is a really exciting time to join Loram UK as we expand our operations. To support that growth, we are looking for a **Payroll Assistant **to join our team, based out of the Derby offices.
**Payroll Assistant**
**Role Summary**
The Payroll Assistant is responsible for preparing and processing Loram UK payroll in an accurate and timely manner, and ensuring that the company remains compliant with all applicable payroll legislation.
The Payroll Assistant will strive for continuous improvement of the payroll function, working closely with the Payroll Specialist, as well as assisting the Finance team as required, including processing employee expenses and other employee related areas, as well as any other accounting assistance as required from time to time.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Process full end to end payroll for 162+ employees (currently), including any timesheet processing and spreadsheet analysis that is required
- Calculate and/or record all allowances and deductions (e.g., overtime, on call payments, shift allowances and premia, unpaid time off, pension contributions, student loan deductions etc. and ensure these are correctly reflected in the payroll)
- Calculate, record and monitor statutory payments (e.g., SSP, SPP and SMP)
- Assist with childcare voucher administration and deduction from payroll
- Ensure the correct calculation of pay for new starters, leavers and those changing roles affecting pay and/or allowances including back pay
- Liaise with employees and managers to resolve payroll queries from any area of the business (employees, HR, Finance, other departments) including providing calculations and/or suggested solutions as relevant
- Liaise with HR to ensure all relevant changes of which they have been notified are reflected in the appropriate payroll
- Ensure all reporting & payment deadlines are adhered to
- Check and verify amounts to be paid for net pay as well as payments to HMRC (e.g., NI, PAYE, apprentice levy, student loan repayments etc.)
- Assist with pension processing
- Assist Payroll Specialist with payroll year end reporting
- Process employee expenses
**What we are looking for**:
The role is based in our office in Derby but Hybrid working is available, particularly at peak times.
We have a competitive benefits package, paying up to £25,000 pro rota per annum depending on experience, providing 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays on a pro rota basis, a medical cash plan, discretionary bonus, pension, and corporate discount scheme.
There is an opportunity to study towards the CIPP payroll technician certificate.

Part-time hours: 24-30 per week
**Salary**: Up to £25,000.00 per year
