Shepherd Neame is looking for a full time Packaging Operative to join our production team. The role is based at the Brewery in Faversham, Kent on a full time permanent contract reporting to the Packaging Team Leader. Your main responsibilities are to ensure the safe operation of the various machines, according to standard operating procedures, and to ensure exceptional quality of the final finished goods. This particular vacancy is on a high-speed bottling line and includes forklift operation

The role involves working on a variable shift pattern between the hours of 6am and 10pm Monday to Friday, primarily based in our Bottling team, but responsibilities and duties may be extended to the broader Packaging Department.

The following skills are not essential but would be advantageous:

- The ability to drive a fork lift truck / clamp truck
- Prior FMCG experience as well as knowledge of WCM

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Allocation of tasks and effort primarily within bottling but also in other packaging process areas (like keg, cask, canning, ullage, copack) as and when required.
- Startup, operation, changeover and shutdown of plant and equipment.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Implement first level maintenance practices such as cleaning and defect reporting.
- Alignment with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) practices such as 5S and visual management.
- Perform ‘Quality at Source’ checks to ensure a first-time-right culture.
- FLT truck operation and loading / unloading of delivery vehicles.
- Deliver the "daily production plan" in full.
- Support plant and operating efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure safety is a top priority by reporting and actioning hazards and adhering to safe systems of work.
- Input production data into SAP and other IT based systems.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and hygiene standards.
