Mary Seacole Housing is a dynamic and innovative third sector organisation who provide support to individuals with a wide range of support needs for over 30 years. We are looking to welcome a new Supported Accommodation Officer into our busy and energetic support team.

**Purpose of post**:
To support clients who reside in our accommodation services. To provide support to improve mental health and wellbeing, through one to one and group sessions. To broker access to statutory mental health services as needed. To develop networks to aid the whole staff team to provide support to service users to ensure positive mental health and wellbeing. To advocate on behalf of service users, as needed, with other services, in relation to mental health.

This appointment provides the Association with a Supported Accommodation Officer to work with our clients who are living with or experiencing mental ill health and coordinate/devise care plans, provide them advice, information and support, to enable them to maximise their health and wellbeing. The successful post holder will be able to work flexibly across the various premises and services the Association provides.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- To provide mental health and wellbeing support, advice and guidance to the project’s residents
- To hold one to one support sessions with the service users; supporting them to explore their mental health needs in a safe environment
- To lead group sessions; exploring common mental health and wellbeing concerns, and providing proven self-management techniques as appropriate, including mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, talking therapies, art therapy
- To build relationships with key local partners related to improving the service users mental health and wellbeing
- To develop links with local professional cross-sector and mental health and wellbeing services
- To develop a robust referral route into professional specialist services for the service users who need additional support
- To provide access to mental health support to service users who are waiting to access statutory interventions
- To advocate on behalf of service users to partner agencies, especially as related to mental health and wellbeing; reducing the likelihood of mental health deterioration,
- and reducing risks associated with missed appointments, or other issues such as addiction or behavioural concerns.
- To provide support to service users in their first language when required, using interpreters and adhering to good practice standards; reducing language barriers for those who need to discuss mental health needs and gain support
- To provide advice, information and guidance to staff team members on how to best support service users experiencing mental ill health.
- To maintain records needed to ensure excellent and consistent support provision; maintaining comprehensive case files, using the Inform data system, completing reports and assisting in the measurement of outcomes.
- To ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to in your practices, and that concerns are reported appropriately and expediently
- To attend regular supervision sessions with your line manager.
- To attend relevant training sessions as required by the role / your line manager.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested
- To ensure all working practice and interactions are in line with organisational ethos and values
- Minimum 3 years providing support to vulnerable adults, either in a paid or voluntary capacity, including at least one of the following groups: single homeless people, alcohol/drug users, people living with HIV/Aids, people with physical and learning disabilities and mental health, ex-offenders, trouble families.
- Previous experience of working in residential/supported housing setting.
- Experience of working with clients to assess their needs, to promote individual choice, control and independence and to maximise people’s well being.
- Experience of developing and managing support plans for clients.
- Experience in monitoring scheme performance against targets and standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing people who may need care and support. Previously worked in similar position within the public or health sector.
- Knowledge of the basic concepts of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and the protection of adults at risk of abuse.

**Qualifications**
- Level 5 Diploma or suitable equivalent in a field relevant to support e.g. Social Care, Youth and Community Studies, Psychology, Criminology etc.
- Valid Drivers Licence and access to own vehicle (desirable)

**Salary**: £27,868.58 per year
