**Main responsibilities**:
**Delivery**:

- Support the delivery of Programme events by collaborating with colleagues to identify relevant topics, booking meeting spaces, managing attendance, organizing travel and accommodation, handling publicity, and managing other logistics as required.
- Assist with the dissemination of outputs, working closely with colleagues on digital communications and promotional materials; organizing events, workshops, and roundtables; and providing administrative support as needed.
- Support diary coordination, including meeting arrangements and travel logistics for the Programme Director, other team members, and Associate Fellows.
- Effectively manage administrative processes, including financial administration and record-keeping, maintaining data and using our CRM in compliance with GDPR, keeping files and databases up-to-date, monitoring and ordering supplies, and producing and proofreading meeting summaries and memos.
- Assist with desk research to develop knowledge on African affairs and contribute to our research outputs.

**People**:

- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, funders, and partners to meet the programme's goals, adopting a strong collaborative approach to deliver work effectively with Africa Programme colleagues and other teams within Chatham House.
- Collaborate with team members and partners to ensure the smooth delivery of events, including overseeing day-of-event operations.
- Collaborate with senior programme leadership and other colleagues to create a positive working culture, ensuring good practices are shared and the institute's standards of behavior are upheld.

**Strategy**:

- Understand the Africa Programme’s and Chatham House’s overall strategy and how your role contributes to it.
- Proactively support financial management including by monitoring expenditure for activities.
- Find opportunities for collaboration and efficiencies, working across the programme to help drive these initiatives.

**People Requirements**:
You will have or be:

- Experience in coordinating and delivering high-quality events in-person and using online meeting platforms.
- Outstanding administration, coordination and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and financial literacy.
- A team player, with energy, enthusiasm, a desire to learn, and work collaboratively.
- A problem-solver with the ability to show initiative.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of partners and navigate cross-cultural sensitivities.
- Ability to take ownership and balance multiple tasks, prioritize accordingly, and work calmly under pressure.
- Demonstrable interest in African affairs.
- Proficiency in Portuguese or Arabic (desirable).

**Benefits**:

**Salary**: £28,000 per annum

**Contract**: Full-time, 1 Year FTC

**Location**: Hybrid (Office/Home), minimum 2 days in the office per week.
