Interventional Cardiology Senior Fellow

The interventional fellow will perform the following activities:
(a) Attendance at interventional catheter lab up to 6 sessions per week. Further additional sessions may be allocated depending on the timetable.
(b) Provision of ward round for PCI patients (interventional ward round).
(c) Attendance at regular MDT and educational weekly meeting.
(d) Dictation of discharge and procedural letters as required.
(e) Participate in departmental interventional research, audits, and educational programmes, present at national and international conferences, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
There will be opportunity to join ACS PCI weekend lists alongside the interventional consultant. This is an optional commitment and will provide a valuable training opportunity.
The Trust is highly active in clinical research. We are the highest recruiting centre for many clinical trials for commercial and non-commercial sponsors; and have recruited the first global, European and UK patients across several specialities. We have a dedicated cardiac research centre and team who have long track records of being research active and support research activities throughout several national and international trials.
The Lancashire Cardiac Centre (LCC) comprises the Cardiothoracic and Cardiology Directorates and the Division is contained in a £50 million purpose-built hospital in which there are five catheter laboratories and four cardiac and thoracic theatres. Plans are well advanced to develop a cardiac hybrid lab/theatre in addition. There is also a dedicated outpatient and non
- invasive cardiac physiology investigation unit, a cardiac day case unit with radial lounge suite, 20 cardiac intensive care beds, 10 CCU beds and 89 ward beds. LCC provide full range of non-invasive and invasive investigations including:
- Five catheter laboratories (3 Phillips Biplane, 1 Philips single plane, 1 Siemens single plane).
- Dedicated pacing/ICD clinic rooms
- Cardiopulmonary exercise and treadmill testing
- 3 Echo rooms (TTE, TOE)
- Nuclear imaging
- Multi-slice cardiac CT
- Cardiac MRI
- DSE
