Unilever’s Global Home Care Category is looking for someone to join its Formulation team at Port Sunlight, Wirral to work on how to bring their products to life.

The role involves the development of relevant claims and product demonstrations and the gathering of support data for these claims across several projects and the delivery of outstanding communications for our products and brands. Additionally, this role will also involve the development of new capability for the claims team, through working on strategic activities to “raise the game” in claim generation. This is achieved through:
o Work on the claims ambition for key brands within the Dishwash Category

o Develop, substantiate, and defend through dare, big impactful consumer

relevant product claims by interacting in a multi-disciplinary business environment, providing a critical link between the Regional/Category R&D, Legal

Marketing and Brand Development and Building.

o Delivery of outstanding claims and communications for our innovations that are robustly supported in technical and consumer understanding.

o Lead and execute the creation of technical demos in the context of Home Care projects.

o Delivery of specific strategic activities as part of the larger claims team, in order to “raise the game” in the way we develop claims.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Define and deliver claims strategy and work plan for relevant projects in Dishwash.

2. Support relevant strategic activities to “raise the game” in the claim generation process.

3. Employ a sound understanding of the category, brands, competitive environment, consumer and technology to develop robust, and where necessary novel,

approaches (incl robust consumer insights) to generate, develop and support

ambitious product claims/communication. Execute activities that drive technical product understanding and technical consumer insights into creative consumer communications for concept creation, label copy, advertising, public relations.

4. Deliver robust claims support dossier and final recommendation to relevant Teams (approval of all package label copy, advertising briefs and final commercials, public relations materials, and sales materials).

5. Translate claims into demonstrations that are consumer relevant and drive

innovation understanding with consumers, sales, legal, pr/advertising agencies, and external category influencers (magazine editors, etc)

6. Analyze the product competitive environment to identify possible competitive

challenge opportunities. In the event of product dare, execute and prepare

defense testing and claims dossier and supporting Regional Teams in challenge and defense.

Key Skills

Broad category (Homecare) technical understanding of formulation, consumers and the testing methodologies used to access product performance.

Strong interface management skills.

Interpersonal and communication skills.

Time Management.

Analytical capability for results interpretation.

Relevant experience

BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in Physical Science or social science degree with some chemistry background.

Claim generation or Consumer research experience and/or Product Development experience.

Technical product evaluation (appraisal, clinical, instrumental expertise). Project Management experience.

Understanding of legal marketing law and product regulations regionally or globally.
