**Role: Young Persons Practitioner**
**Circa Salary**: £22,500 per annum (Pro rata)
**Contract/Hours**: Permanent, Part-time 20 hours a week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with evenings from 5pm to 9:00pm
**Location**: Cornwall - Remote

**About the Role**:
Action for Children Cornwall SPACE is a Cornwall Council funded service providing Holiday Activities and youth groups for disabled children and young people aged between 5 - 25 years. We offer disabled children and young people exciting new activities to try, providing families with an all-important short break service.
As part of the service, we offer three youth groups for young disabled people between 14 - 25 years. We have services in the west, mid and east of the county, on three evenings a week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening).
We are currently looking for a Young Persons Practitioner with youth work experience to travel and work across the county of Cornwall, based from home. The areas you will be travelling to are Redruth, St. Austell and Liskeard.
**You will make a difference by**:
- An amazing and creative role, working in a team to deliver exciting and high quality youth work for disabled young people.
- Working collaboratively with young people to understand their needs and creating a fun and exciting program that meets those needs and wants.
- Delivering an exciting program of youth work for young people with a learning disability, tailored to their needs.
- Planning and delivering activities and encouraging active participation amongst service users. Activities are fun, exciting and engaging - making our youth groups a safe a supportive place for disabled young people to meet, get advice and guidance and make friends.
- Conducting assessments and referrals to service and updating relevant paperwork, such as planning and recording.
- Working within a small team and helping with short break activities in the Easter and summer holidays
**You will need**:
- Relevant NVQ level 3 or previous experience working with children and young people. A youth work qualification would be a real advantage, although if you have experience and no qualification, we can offer a level 3 apprenticeship in Youth Work.
- Experience of working within the young people with learning disabilities would be an advantage.
- Experience of working with young people and a youth work curriculum
- Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices.
- Creative, positive and proactive approach towards work.
- To be able to work and travel across the county (Mileage is paid)
