**Help our staff learn and grow, to keep people safe from terrorism and other threats to UK security, with a career as a Data Literacy Officer. As the national lead on data literacy, you’ll contribute to this crucial mission and enable Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), by upskilling our people so they understand the value that data and technology bring.**

Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces. We work together with MI5, neighbourhood policing teams and other specialist partners to disrupt attacks, prevent people getting drawn into terrorism and violent extremism, and increase the protection and security of the UK. The team you’ll join sits at the heart of this CTP network; we are responsible for the leadership and development of CTP’s analytical community, leading data-driven intelligence and analysis to inform investigations and operations. Our mission is to exploit emerging science and technology, to tackle the trickiest data-related problems - and if you’re passionate about data and public policy, we’d love you to join us.

Day to day, you’ll identify the learning and development needs of our people, working with public and private sector partners to identify knowledge gaps and design programmes that improve data literacy and awareness, across varied departments. You’ll have experience designing and delivering people-centric projects, and use your outstanding communication skills to influence stakeholders and confidently present to audiences from all backgrounds and at all seniorities.

You will continuously evaluate the effectiveness of data literacy campaigns, measuring and improving performance to help us become the best and brightest - and help us protect the nation.

**The team you’ll join**

You will join a growing team that sits at the heart of the CTP network. The Data and Analysis Pillar was established in 2019 to transform CTP’s use of data. Our vision is that CTP becomes a data-centric organisation, with the right data exploitable by the whole network against any threat, utilising the best available capabilities, while maintaining legal compliance and public trust.

And our remit is broad: We are responsible for the leadership and professional development of CTP’s nationwide analytical community - we lead the production of data-driven intelligence and analytical products to inform CT investigations and operations. We lead engagement with industry and academia to exploit emerging science and technology and deliver innovative solutions to the CTP network. And we are creating a national data science capability - to help our regional operational and investigative teams tackle the trickiest data-related problems.

The Data Team is multi-functional team that sits within the Data and Analysis Pillar and provides a range of cross-cutting services to the HQ and wider network. We define the strategic vision and priorities for data and technology. We enable decision-making on all things digital, data, analysis and technology through coordination of a range of senior boards. We lead the development of data-related policy and standards internal to CTP and influence wider government policy and data legislation. We provide the tools and frameworks to ensure we deliver technology that is feasible, provides the required operational impact and allows users to get the most from our data while ensuring we remain ethically and legally compliant. And we oversee, coordinate and support the delivery of technology that continues to meet the evolving needs of our users.

**What you’ll do**

You will play an integral role in the development of our people. You will work collaboratively across the CT Policing network to design and deliver a programme to improve data literacy and awareness of technology for all staff across CTP to increase understanding of the value that data and tech bring to the CTP mission. Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Identifying the learning and development needs of our people. You will review and evaluate CTP’s data literacy knowledge gaps. You will identify emerging data literacy, culture and awareness needs that arrive from strategic priorities and emerging initiatives.
