**Job Title: Action Planning Officer**

**Salary: £32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.**

**Location: Hendon, Sidcup, or Westminster**

**Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT)**

DDaT is responsible for providing the Commissioner and Met leaders with expert and intelligent support and frameworks, allowing them to lead the organisation strategically, make informed decisions and address effectively the political, partnership, statutory and public environments in which the organisation operates.

**The Data Office**

The Commissioner and Management Board have determined that the Met will be a data driven organisation. This means treating our data in the same way we treat our people, methods, and technology, as a strategic asset.

The Data Office is the single place of accountability across the Met that:

- Owns and drives the data compliance and analytics agenda
- Brings together the accountabilities that are currently dispersed across the Met business areas
- Consolidates and further develops existing Met data and insight services
- Enables data sharing and collaboration to serve the public and external partners

The Data Office has three functions:

Action Planning Team**:responsible for ensuring the smooth running of governance across

Data Office, including (but not exhaustive of) - meeting management, coordination of actions from multiple boards across the organisation to ensure the Data Office are accountable and on top of their actions, taking minutes/actions from meetings, management of SLT diaries, raising purchase orders, networking with other business areas/senior staff offices to build and maintain good working relationships.

The responsibilities of this Actions Planning Officer role include:

- Taking a proactive approach to communications, providing effective customer service
- Drafting both internal and external communications on behalf of the Director and extended SLT where necessary, sharing knowledge and learning to make recommendations for enhancements to outputs, reports, workshops, and communication
- Challenge upwards where necessary to ensure clarity is sought ahead critical meeting/decisions
- Manage outputs and actions from meetings critical to the functionality of the Data Office, normally at SLT level and above
- Deliver high quality, consistent communication, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on engaging with Data across UK policing & beyond
- Assist with the commissioning and preparation of papers for a range of internal boards
- Liaise and build effective working relationships with other Private Offices, the Commissioner’s office and MOPAC
- Managing busy diaries of senior leaders within the Data Office, with ever changing demands and balancing of priorities
- Enabling implementation of the Data Office Business Plan and tracking the outputs of it
- Management of the Action Planning Team Mailbox, dealing with enquiries into the Data Office, redirecting as necessary
- Support the Staff Officer to the Director, to enable completion of tasks as required

**Skills and Knowledge**

**The role holder will require**:

- Excellent organisation and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability, supported by line manager, to manage conflict to resolution as well as ability to manage expectations of individuals who have raised issues and capability in managing conflict resolution as well as ability to manage expectations of individuals who have raised issues
- Relationship management, forming effective working relationships across a wide range of people and groups, engaging confidently with the business at the required level
- Operational knowledge of the MPS and an understanding of how this can benefit responses to Data Office issues/opportunities.
- Proficient Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills
- Ability to work under pressure, managing a range of activities as part of a team with confidence to manage a range of stakeholders at a senior level
- High degree of confidentiality
- Forward thinking, proactive and able to work independently
