**About us**:
This post is within the Business Strategy Team which provides strategic support to the Planning, Growth & Sustainability and Communities Directorates - a broad set of place-based services in the Council. Working directly with senior leaders and their teams, we are a tight knit and supportive team who work collaboratively and at pace to deliver on a number of ongoing but also ad-hoc corporate activities.

We support senior leaders to identify and articulate priorities, and to ensure they are delivered throughout the year. We also work with services to ensure join up with corporate initiatives and ways of working. We continuously challenge ourselves on the best way of doing things and undertake a really broad set of tasks which mean no day is the same

**About the role**:
This is a new role which will support the service to identify and articulate priorities, monitor their delivery throughout the year, ensure join up with corporate initiatives and ways of working, and drive governance and consistency.

Key responsibilities of the role will include, but not be limited to:

- Working directly with the Service Director for Highways & Technical Services and their senior management team to provide excellent business management - including risk management, business continuity planning, business planning
- Provide a solid grip of internal governance and business management practices in order to facilitate good quality and timely response from the service area to corporate demands
- Will be a key member of and add value to the H&TS Management Team

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in defining and delivering ways of working within a high profile service. While you will be largely embedded within Highways & Technical Services, your role will sit within the Business Strategy Team, which collectively delivers a similar set of activities across place based services - so you will have excellent support from a broad base of colleagues.

**Any-Desk**:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

The successful applicant will be confident working in a fast paced, demanding environment with colleagues at all levels of seniority - providing constructive challenge where appropriate. You will be ambitious about what can be achieved and tenacious in your drive to achieve it. You will be motivated to work with services to support their delivery of great services for residents, businesses and visitors to Buckinghamshire.

You will be an excellent communicator, with strong people and influencing skills. You will think strategically to solve problems, and comfortable in dealing with complex and sometimes sensitive situations. You must be able to multi-task and prioritise your own workload, and also work collaboratively and as part of a team.

This role is part of the Business Strategy team, we usually work for two days a week in the Gateway office or Walton Street office in Aylesbury - and from home for the rest of the week. You may from time to time need to travel to other locations for meetings and events.

This is a fixed-term contract until 1st April 2024.
