**Overview**:
We are seeking a proactive individual who has a good eye for investigations and gathering information. We are looking for a member of the Buckinghamshire Highways client team to actively pursue the recovery of costs to third parties damaging our highways assets.

In addition, the Green Claims and Enforcement Officer will be responsible for assisting the Highways Community Liaison team in gathering evidence and liaising on enforcement of the Highways Act 1980. Gathering information, carrying out site checks and liaising with legal teams as well as gathering evidence for the pursuit of successful enforcement of the Highways Act 1980.

**About the role**:
This is an exciting role working with a local-based team of Highways professionals as part of a team delivering services and highways schemes at the heart of our communities.

It is a key role with the cost of damage to Public Highways Asset being a key priority to actively pursue the recovery of as well as enforcement of the Public Highway across Buckinghamshire ensuring it is a free passage for the passing Public to use being a key priority.

You will be the council’s key technical person when it comes to enforcement and active recovery of claims.

The Green Claims and Enforcement Officer will be responsible for reaching targets for the pursual of claims as well as evidence to successfully pursue enforcement of the Highways Act 1980.

Mobile:

- _A ‘mobile’ role gives you the flexibility to schedule your own diary, so you can meet with colleagues and clients in a variety of locations. You’ll access digital folders and resources on your laptop and be able to use the network wherever you are based. Working from home will be common, as well as meeting your team in the office where necessary.

**About you**:
This is a challenging but rewarding role for an individual who likes to investigate, and fact find. We require new processes to be developed to pursue recovery of damages against the Council authority as well as the pursuit of enforcement of the Highways ACT 1980. It will be key for the individual to have Extensive experience of highways maintenance, traffic management and highways asset management.

Knowledge of the service area and wider sector/external influences and proven track record.

An ability to collect accurate asset and defect information as well as evidence which could be used within a court setting.

The Green Claims and Enforcement Officer will be able to work as part of a team as well as be able to manage independently, prioritise and self-motivate. The post holder must be an excellent communicator with a good standard of persuasion and negotiating skills. Experience in managing sensitive and contentious issues and diffusing confrontational situations.
