This senior role is key in ensuring we have safe, effective & robust systems to provide assurance, monitor quality & safety so you will appreciate that we are looking for the right person. We need someone who can deliver against key objectives in a fast paced environment.

You will be working to provide leadership and support to the teams looking after children on ward 8 (inpatients ward), Children's Clinic and Children's Day Case Unit.

Ensuring that the nursing and care support teams within their wards, departments and services are appropriately resourced and organised for the maximum benefit of patients.

Ensuring staff and services are adequately supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassion in line with the Trust’s Values, Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework, Always Safety First Strategy, Governance framework, CQC standards, NICE guidance, other strategic local and national plans and policies. Leading and developing staff by being a visible authoritative role model providing clinical and managerial leadership, support and direction, capitalising on research and development opportunities, supporting staff to reach their full potential.

Ensure clinical services are developed and delivered in line with national policy, Trust priorities, available evidence and patient care needs.

You will be joining teams from the areas identified and be part of a large number of staff delivering high quality care to our local population. We have a development package specifically designed for our matrons that is aligned to the National Competency Framework this is offered in tandem with our Core People Management Skills Training Programme and opportunities to attend our ILM training. We are also committed to supporting speciality training.

We are aiming for outstanding with CQC and a GOLD STAR with our quality accreditation scheme.

You will be line managed by the Divisional Nurse Director for children and supporte4d by the Divisional Nurse Director for Medicine so will always have a point of contact to bounce ideas off as well as agree the changes necessary to drive the service forward.

We are working across boundaries with the ICS and ICP to design services that are innovative, responsive and child centred and inclusive.
