We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Medical Receptionist to join our friendly practice team in Sleaford.

- a strong team player, being able to adapt to a change in duties or hours to cover staff shortages
- effective, able to multi-task and work quickly and accurately
- quick-thinking, able to absorb a lot of information and make decisions easily
You must be accurate, have good communication skills, a team player and also be able to work flexibly in the absence of colleagues. The role is quite technical, and you will using the phone and at least 2 computer systems simultaneously. The position is full time, 37.5 hours a week.
Main duties of the job
- Greeting patients politely and ensuring that the appointment system is run efficiently, monitor the flow of patients to and from consulting rooms, managing queues through telephone and face to face interaction.
- Answering up to 100 phone calls per day and giving customers accurate information and solving their queries and problems. Handle simple complaints and be able to treat our patients with empathy and kindness.
- Process admin tasks and work in between phone calls, fully maximising your effectiveness.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for non-NHS services, accept payment and issue receipts.
- Explain practice arrangements and requirements for new and temporary patients. Accurately register new, temporary and emergency patients. Give new patients a ‘new patient pack’ and book initial appointments as necessary.
- Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors to the practice as appropriate.
- Enter requests for home visits onto SystmOne, including all relevant information. Deal efficiently with emergency situations
- Understanding how the roles and processes in the practice interlink to ensure the smoothest journey for our patients.
- Keep reception areas clean and tidy.
We have 9 people in our reception team - we are a friendly and cheeky bunch, and we love a good biscuit.
