This is a vital role in the smooth running of the Practice. The Patient Navigation team provide a vital service acting as the first point of contact for our Practice by responding to queries and requests for assistance from patients, carers and other visitors. They reply to telephone calls and askmyGP requests, ensuring the smooth running of the appointment system for all clinicians. The patient navigators explain practice procedures to new patients and to those seeking temporary registration, ensuring all processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
They ensure the reception and waiting room areas are kept neat and tidy (including toilets). In addition, they advise patients of relevant charges for private services, (i.e. medical report requests) accepting card payments and issuing receipts when requested. Retrieve and re-file information as required, ensuring the filing process is adhered to.
Responsible for the scanning of correspondence into patient electronic clinical records, following workflow process and protocol. Follow opening up and closing down procedures for reception ensuring that security of the building is always maintained. Ensure that the telephone system is operational at the beginning of each day and switched over to night service at the end of the day. Check the cancellation line to make sure no appointment is wasted.
Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.
