**Clinical Lead - Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT)**

NHS Forth Valley is seeking to appoint a clinical lead to work with local and regional teams to ensure safe delivery of Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT) as defined by CEL 30 (2012) within NHS Forth Valley.
Appointees will be consultants familiar with the use of and regulations surrounding SACT (e.g. Haematologists or Oncologists) working within NHS Forth Valley.
As clinical lead, the post holder will provide support to the Head of Service, Associate Medical Director and Service / Department Managers in the day to day running of his / her area of responsibility. The duties and responsibilities of the role will be to:
Provide accountability for the safe delivery of SACT services as defined in the NHS Board’s clinical governance structures.
Provide an annual report to the cancer clinical governance group on the safe delivery of SACT in the NHS Board.
- Chair Forth Valley SACT committee meetings.
Establish systems to ensure compliance with current legislation, national standards and guidelines.
Ensure that systems are in place to develop, approve, implement and regularly review policies for the safe delivery of SACT across all care settings in the NHS Board
Participate in a cross regional audit programme, with external peer review from other cancer networks, to provide assurance on the safe delivery of SACT services in all NHS Board areas.
Ensure that non-conformance remediation plans, with priorities and timescales assigned, are in place to achieve full compliance with the standards.
- Develop and maintain a programme of education and training, including competencies and methods of assessment, for all staff involved in the delivery of SACT services.
Establish systems for the risk management of the NHS Forth Valley SACT services.
Engage and support capacity workforce plans for SACT services that are available and are reviewed and reported to senior managers and the clinical governance framework on a regular basis.
Ensure that all clinical incidents of avoidable harm, such as adverse events and near misses involving SACT are documented, reviewed and learning shared to prevent future actual/potential harm.
Ensure that all deaths occurring within 30 days of administration of SACT are reported and reviewed.
- Provide local clinical leadership for the chemotherapy electronic prescribing system (CEPAS) with participation in regional development working groups
- Provide local clinical leadership with participation in regional development working groups for the national cancer treatment helpline.
5. Accountability/Performance Review
Report regularly to the Lead Cancer Clinician for cancer services and the Associate Medical Director for Planned Care in NHS Forth Valley.
6. Time Allocation
This role would be expected to account for 4 hours Additional Role Responsibility per week (1 PA session)
