**GENERAL**

The Women’s Centre Cornwall has grown from its early roots as a Rape Crisis Centre into an innovative, award-winning feminist organisation which provides a wide range of services for women and girls in our communities. Our work with survivors of sexual and domestic violence is our core specialism as we believe that there can be no real gender equality without a complete cessation of violence against women. In addition, we provide community-based activities across Cornwall and support women ex-offenders across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.

**PURPOSE**
- To provide holistic, flexible and responsive support to women experiencing complex and multiple disadvantages
- Through assertive outreach, locate and positively engage women who would benefit from the service
- To improve the rates of drug and alcohol dependence recovery
- To improve access to housing for women in drug and alcohol recovery

**The job role of the Assertive Outreach Practitioner is**:

- To support women experiencing multiple disadvantages to identify and address issues with drug and/or alcohol dependence
- To support women experiencing multiple disadvantages to successfully engage with substance misuse support delivered by other agencies
- To support women experiencing multiple disadvantages to secure and maintain suitable housing
- To deliver a flexible service supporting women in a range of settings (street based / outreach / partner agencies)
- To build relationships and trust.
- To provide brief interventions, Information and Guidance, navigating to other services, short-term solutions and connecting to longer-term local women-specific support.
- To contribute to the learning and evaluation of the project.
- To ensure that all necessary paperwork and data inputting is completed in a timely and professional manner.
- To subscribe to working within a Trauma Informed remit; to contribute to a Trauma Informed and Responsive service.
- To maintain individual responsibility for own continuing professional development through attendance at appropriate team meetings, training events, the use of the internet i.e. Women in Prison, Safe Lives, Women’s Aid, Rights of Women, FLOWS etc.
- To undertake TWCC induction training programme.
- To work at all times within the policies, procedures and ethos of TWCC.
- To attend Team Meetings and Professional Development Days
