**Job Purpose**

The UK Space Agency’s Space Ecosystem Development team works with partners to deliver a range of projects to a variety of stakeholders across all parts of the UK. These projects are aimed at supporting businesses, providing access to Research and Development facilities and expertise, supporting the creation of regional space sector ecosystems or clusters and connections to the wider sector. Our work drives local Space investment and leadership and encourages the commercialisation of cutting-edge technology and knowledge.

The team are responsible for delivering Space Ecosystem Development which includes:

- Raising awareness with local partners of space as a growth opportunity, encouraging the development of local action plans, leadership and advocacy.
- Building local space clusters, hubs and regional capabilities, developing supply chains and brokering partnerships.
- Supporting regional stakeholders to work together, creating a national networked space sector ecosystem of businesses, facilities, and universities.
- Supporting the commercialisation of university research.
- Providing targeted space business support to help companies start up and scale up.
- Managing funding and support to enable the development of major Research & Development infrastructure projects that drive increased investment and innovation across the space sector.
- Sharing intelligence and best practice across networks.
- Working closely with Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to set the strategic direction for cluster development and Space Ecosystem Development policy.

The Space Ecosystem Development team deliver a diverse portfolio of projects that enable the development of a UK wide ecosystem of local space clusters and regional space capabilities. It has also designed and manages the UK Space Agency Accelerator Programme, which provides business support to Small and Medium sized Enterprises and start-ups, and the Space Clusters Infrastructure Fund (SCIF)
- a major R&D infrastructure funding programme.

SCIF is a UK Space Agency priority programme offering matched funding to support the build or upgrade of R&D infrastructure in the UK, enabling space companies to develop and qualify products so that they are ready for commercial markets or space missions.
