About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the development of the Harwell HealthTec Cluster, a world-leading healthcare innovation hub. The successful candidate will work closely with the HealthTec Development team to ensure the continued growth and success of the cluster.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the HealthTec Cluster, identifying key success factors and opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate with cluster development partners to support new and potential investors into Oxfordshire, primarily through the focus of the health and life sciences sector.
  • Develop and maintain metrics of HealthTec Cluster performance and growth, providing a robust evidence base for economic metrics.
  • Target high-growth opportunities that fit with the strategic vision, building partnerships to drive cluster growth and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Head of Innovation and Inward Investment at OxLEP to support the delivery of the Oxfordshire Life Sciences Inward Investment strategy.
  • Build on the synergies between life and physical sciences to create a vibrant and growing Cluster population that encompasses the entirety of commercial value chain.
  • Lead cluster initiatives to exploit the cross-disciplinary activities inherent in the Harwell Campus and across Oxfordshire.
  • Promote the offer of the HealthTec Cluster and sector locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Build links with multidisciplinary stakeholders locally to support the role of Oxfordshire in increasing the competitiveness of the UK in Health Tech business.
  • Work with the Harwell Campus Business Development Director to manage the overall implementation of Campus strategic partnerships, programmes, and events linked to HealthTec life sciences activities on the Campus.
Person Specification
  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the health and life sciences sector, services, and applications.
  • Experience in implementing development strategies and collaborative programmes, working across public and private sectors.
  • Excellent knowledge of the SME community.
  • Excellent knowledge of the investment landscape and mechanisms in the UK and internationally.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills, delivering complex messages to a wide range of audiences.
  • Clear and effective negotiation, influencing, and networking skills, with the ability to influence the thinking and actions of others at all levels.
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience of the whole project lifecycle, including appraisals and finance.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand new and cross-cutting technologies.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active, and innovative, with excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information in a professional manner.
