**Duties include**:
- Researching potential vendors
- Comparing and evaluating offers from suppliers
- Negotiating contract terms of agreement and pricing
- Raising purchase orders
- Tracking orders and ensure timely delivery
- Reviewing the quality of purchased products
- Entering order details into our internal databases/systems
- Maintaining records on our internal supply chain systems which consist of purchases, deliveries and invoices
- Preparing reports on purchases, including cost analysis
- Monitoring stock levels and placing orders to maintain expected standards
- Coordinating with warehouse staff to ensure delivery inspection and storage
**Role Requirements**:
- Maintaining good relationships with key suppliers on a daily basis
- Must be flexible to travel offsite as and when supplier meetings are required
- Must have knowledge of vendor sourcing practices
- Previous experience within a purchasing role is essential, preferably within an engineering manufacturing environment
- Experience using purchasing/supply chain software is desirable
- An understanding of supply chain procedures would be an advantage
- Must possess solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analysis if requested
**Skill Requirements**:
- Must possess strong negotiation and communication skills
- An understanding of engineering terms and materials would be beneficial
- Suitable qualifications in Purchasing or Business Administration are expected
- Must have IT experience, particularly with Excel spreadsheets
- A background working with steel would be advantageous
