KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To support the North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Integrated Musculoskeletal Service across Northern Staffordshire by delivering the following: To receive telephone calls internal and external from hospitals and other community teams; communicating effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues at all times Act at all times in a manner which respects privacy, dignity and confidentiality Provide general office duties effectively and efficiently, including photocopying, laminating and processing internal and external mail Arrange appointments including patient appointments and meetings as requested To undertake appropriate use of databases & software such as Microsoft Office including computerised diaries Ability to travel to varied locations in order to carry out duties as appropriate Cover for other administrators within the wider North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Integrated Musculoskeletal Service during times of absence as agreed with line manager Prioritise own workload in order to meet deadlines required for Directorate Maintain the work environment in accordance with Trust Policies particularly Health & Safety policies Is aware of own limitations and seeks assistance as appropriate Be familiar with all the Trusts policies and procedures Be responsible for own personal development, including keeping up to date with Mandatory training & training within the team To support equality, value diversity and promote peoples rights Undertake other duties as may be determined from time to time, commensurate with the role and general responsibilities of the post Education and Training Attend courses / lectures as indicated by the needs of the service and as required by the post and disseminate new knowledge and skills appropriately. Work collaboratively in the development of information booklets and leaflets to ensure patient focused care and service delivery. Policy Service Development Develop links and collaborative working relationships with other services. Participate in opportunities to share good practice with colleagues Support the implementation of departmental policies and contribute to team and service developments Identify own development needs and take action to enhance own knowledge skills and areas of competence as appropriate, taking into account organizational needs and objectives.

Plan your development and objectives with support from the Team Lead. Attend regular reviews with your team leader and have yearly appraisals following the Trusts review process. Propose service changes, make proposals on processes. Financial Responsibilities Ensure that team lead is notified if equipment is damaged or stock is low so that stock levels and clinical supplies in the clinical area can be replenished.

Ensure effective, safe and efficient use of resources, equipment and supplies. Safe use of equipment used personally; Personal duty of care in relation to equipment and resources responsible for software use. People Management Take every opportunity to maintain and improve own knowledge and competence. Participate in personal objective setting and review, including the creation of a personal development plan at annual performance review.

Managing and using information Contribute to the delivery of the service, its clinics and activity. Support the communication of appointments by letter or telephone Maintain clear concise and legible documentation adhering to standards in accordance with Trust policies. The use of, reporting methods, policies and practices which have an impact on own and other areas. Participates in the maintenance of data inputting with support from senior team members Audit, research and development Participates in team & service developments Physical Effort Frequent sitting or standing; Requires advanced keyboard skills with a high degree of accuracy including Microsoft Office.

VDU use Mental Effort Concentration required when checking information and when answering queries from staff There may be interruptions to deal with for example computer failures Emotional effort Exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances is rare. Rare exposure to emotional circumstances within the work place. Working conditions Occasional unpleasant conditions Use VDU equipment more or less continuously Job Description Agreement The duties and role requirements are accurate at the time of creating this job description. However, it is anticipated that service developments may influence the role and require reasonable change/adjustments commensurate with the role.

The post holder must act within the limits of their competence and authority.
