Appointees will have the opportunity to work in a variety of medical specialties (including Acute medicine, Elderly Care, Cardiology, Respiratory, Endocrine, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Medical Day Case Unit) within the Trust during a one-year term of the post. Opportunities will vary depending on the service needs, but an effort will be made to accommodate specific interests as much as possible. Post holders will be rotated between different medical specialties every 6 monthly during their time with the Trust to fulfill service needs and ensure a broad exposure to specialties to facilitate achieving their future career goals.

This is a primarily ward-based position working a standard 43.45 hours per week with participation in rolling weekend ward cover rota to facilitate the Trust’s vision of 7 day care. General medical on

The post offers significant opportunities for professional development. Study leave entitlement is allocated. Mentoring, training and clinical supervision will be provided by senior colleagues within each department to develop clinical skills and increase knowledge to ensure provision of safe care to our patients. The post holder will be encouraged to attend departmental teaching sessions and Trust’s weekly Grand Round sessions. Appointee will be encouraged to maintain an e-portfolio, alongside regular contact with their clinical supervisors to discuss personal development plans and future career plans. A day of Self Development time will be allocated every 8 weeks to meet career needs and support portfolio development.

**THE PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS OF THE POST WILL BE**:
1) To support the in-patient and General Medicine services in the Emergency Division at Warwick Hospital as directed by senior team

2) Research, Education, Audit and Continuing Professional Development
a. To take responsibility for continuing professional education in accordance with guidelines set out by the appropriate college/faculty/professional body.
b. To initiate and participate in research and audit programs in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
c. To work in collaboration with colleagues in developing skills to provide new ways of working across different professions, organisations i.e. community/primary care.

3) Clinical Governance
a. To ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.

**4) General elements**:
a. To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
b. To be able to work flexibly, and cross cover for colleagues.
c. To observe the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures
d. To take responsibility for your own health and safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.
e. To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.

The appointment will be full-time with no on call night commitments and will be based at Warwick Hospital.

The appointee will be given a base specialty and ward however on occasion may be asked to work elsewhere within Medicine to ensure that safe staffing levels are maintained
