This post has been created to support Rheumatology department at Warwick Hospital and to service the current outpatient workload
The exact job plan (including days to be worked) will be agreed in conjunction with the post-holder following appointment. Clinics may be based at Warwick Hospital or Stratford Hospital.
The job plan for this post will include working with the existing consultant team to share responsibilities for Rheumatology patients, taking part in the departmental and divisional meetings, audits, teaching, supervising junior doctors.
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the Associate Medical Director three months after the commencement date of the appointment. The job plan will then be reviewed annually. It will cover all aspects of a consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It should provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. In addition, it should include personal objectives, including details of their link to wider service objectives and details of the support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan and the objectives.

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and maternity services for the people of South Warwickshire and community services for the whole of Warwickshire, covering a population of 536,000. The Trust includes Warwick Hospital which is the main inpatient acute facility for South Warwickshire and community hospitals also based in the south of the county. The Trust is a CHKS top 40 hospital and consistently scores highly in the National Staff Survey.
The post holder will undertake out-patient clinics at Warwick and Stratford upon Avon Hospitals. You will be expected to undertake administrative duties directly associated with the care of patients and the running of clinics. There is opportunity to develop a specialist interest.
**Other duties will include**:
- Supervision of patients receiving day case infusions
- Seeing ward referrals from other teams
- Clinical supervisor for trainee doctors and nurse specialists
- Involvement in departmental teaching of trainees and other health professionals
- Active part in Audit and Clinical Governance
- Involvement of teaching of undergraduate medical students will be encouraged
