An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Governance Co-Ordinator to join our team. We are looking to recruit an experienced individual to provide support to the Directorate Management team on delivering all aspects of Clinical Governance.

You will support the Clinical Governance agenda by working with the team with to co-ordinate, implement and deliver all aspects of risk and governance.

The main duties of the role will include providing robust support to the directorate such as coordination, implementation, facilitation, investigation and delivery of all aspects of governance including the NHS complaints procedure.

You will also be trusted to identify areas of risk and monitor performance and quality of services arising from complaints, incidents and serious incidents received to facilitate organisational learning.

- Support the implementation of all aspects of governance such as investigations, reports, reporting all findings and issues to the Management team
- Monitor and maintain the NICE, complaints, incident and serious incident investigation database, ensuring compliance with nationally and locally determined response targets, reporting variance to the Associate Directorate Manager
- Assist the Directorate in the implementation and delivery of the Clinical Governance and Risk Management strategies, policies and work programmes
- To participate in any new interventions or initiatives across the Directorate to support the development of the Clinical Governance
- Gather, analyse data and complete audits to assist in the design, production and prioritisation of the annual clinical governance strategy, action plans and work programmes to ensure improved clinical quality within the Directorate
- Take and transcribes minutes of formal meetings relating to complaints, and incidents as directed. Generate written reports as required in relation to complaints and incidents
- Support Lead Investigators in complaints management /investigations/ root cause analysis as appropriate to the needs of the Directorate
- Participate in face to face meetings with families, patients and service users, supporting managers and clinical staff to seek resolution
- Liaise with the Complaints and PALS teams as required
- Work with the clinical areas to ensure that quality assurance processes are in place to meet national recommendations across relevant areas in the Directorate
- Maintain records of responses and actions taken against recommendations from national and regional bodies that are reported to the Surgical Board, ie NICE, NHS England, National Confidential Enquiries, Royal Colleges, Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman etc
- Audit records to ensure that they are maintained and managed within current national and local guidance, for example record keeping, documentation
- Maintain and manage the Directorate Risk Register, work with directorate staff to complete good quality risk assessments
- Liaise with other departments, in particular the Corporate Governance Team and the Health and Safety department as required.
- Using the incident reporting system and other available systems to collate data, generate, analyse and monitor trends regarding complaints, and incidents and prepare reports on Clinical Governance topics to the relevant forum when required. These include but are not exclusive to: - NICE, clinical audit and research projects, programmes and initiatives
- Risk Registers
- Patient experience feedback
- Incident investigation reports/analysis of incident trend data
- Complaints investigation reports/analysis of trend data.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports and any other relevant documents required by the directorate team
- Participate in and monitor audits that are carried out across the directorate, monitoring action plans, and report findings to the Clinical Governance Manager
- Give feedback to staff and staff groups in an empathetic manner in situations that may be emotional and emotive
- Communicate sensitive issues, written, verbal and face to face, to service users and staff
- Be able to be flexible in approach to managing own workload with the ability to prioritise competing demands
