Do you want to help identify suitable and safe housing for persons fleeing the fighting in Ukraine and support residents to live independently in healthy, safe and warm homes?

Role Snapshot...

You will be working on the Homes for Ukraine scheme, set up by the Government, to enable and provide a route to safety for Ukrainians, and their immediate family members.

The role involves undertaking home safety visits at volunteered host properties to identify hazards, ensure suitability and safety, prevent overcrowding and to provide advice and guidance to hosts on safety requirements, and amenity and facility standards.

The role will also involve working on Disabled Facilities Grant and other grant assisted home adaptations to enable persons to remain living safely and independently at home.

What you'll be doing...
- Undertaking property inspections to assess suitability and safety, including size, spacing, amenities, facilities, and the identification of hazards and disrepair.
- Working with, and attending meetings with, colleagues in the Help Hub, (who focus on welfare and safeguarding issues), Housing and Benefits and Norfolk County Council.
- Assessing the structure and space suitability and identifying reasonable and
practicable works for required adaptations, including design and preparation of
schedules of work for contractors to price.
- Liaising with and advising builders / contractors to resolve unforeseen building works and overseeing works in default to remove hazards and protect residents.

You must have...
- HNC Diploma or equivalent in building-related discipline or demonstrable experience of working in building or housing-related activity.
- Good communication with clients and contractors.
- A full driving licence is essential.
