Monday - Friday: 08:30 - 16:00 (less 30 minute lunch break)
**WORKING WEEKS**:38 weeks - Term Time only

**MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB**
**To ensure the safeguarding of students and make a significant contribution to their efforts to both “enjoy and achieve”.**
- To raise student aspirations and progress.
- To promote good attendance.
- To promote positive behaviour.
- To monitor and track student progress.
- To contact students/parents as necessary.
- To organise reports and support 1;1 and group interventions for students in the Year Group.
- To attend Parents Evenings, Open Evening and support school events.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
- To support the Head of Year (and deputise in their absence) in promoting the pastoral welfare and academic support of students in the Year Group, whilst building their confidence, self-esteem and aspirations.
- Undertake Safeguarding Training to Level 2 (DDSL level), including supporting the administration of CPOMs.
- To promote the High Standards and High Expectations in relation to the Code of Conduct, with a focus upon uniform, lesson attendance and behaviour.
- To undertake individual and small group work interventions to support student achievement.
- To be part of a mentoring team to promote student achievement.
- Liaise with Attendance Officer regarding student attendance and absences, conducting home visits to support when necessary.
- To actively support students and staff whilst promoting the Ready to Learn system, assisting with restorative conversations and individual staff and student support where necessary.
- To follow up on student progress, behaviour and attendance - meet students and parents as necessary and put in place strategies to support development.
- To collect and evaluate student data, monitoring the effectiveness of intervention programs, through evidence of reports for all students, but with a particular focus upon PP/Disadvantaged, CLA and relevant sub-groups.
- To attend Year Team and BAW meetings, take minutes and follow up on any actions. To lead the HOY meeting in the absence of the Head of Year.
- To liaise with all staff Special Educational Needs Faculty and attend review meetings.
- To assist the HoY with referrals to other and with associated the paper work such as Early Help Assessments, IBPs and PSPs.
- To liaise with these agencies and attend relevant meetings when necessary, to ensure students’ needs are met.
- To undertake administrative duties for the Year Group, including updating the Year Team board, keeping accurate records of personalised timetables and updating student records using SIMs, Provision Mapper and or student files.
- To support in the organisation and attend Parents evenings / Academic Tutoring, or Year Group specific meetings or events e.g. Celebration Evenings, Prom, etc.
- To assist in the organisation of trips, ensuring that PP/FSM/Vulnerable/Welfare/Medical Care Plan students are identified and appropriately supported on trips, through liaison with HOY/SEN/Parents/Carers in relation to individual risk assessments.
- To support with induction of new students (or Primary transition) into the Year Group, liaising with the HOY and Admissions officer, ensuring starters / leavers data is up to date.
- To monitor some small group detentions.
- To provide basic First Aid.
- Provide support through the Pastoral Hub for other Year Groups when needed.
- To carry out lunchtime supervision activities such as HW Club, site supervision or duty in the Pastoral Hub.
- Evening, lunchtime duties.
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- First Aid Certificate - Training can be provided.
- Enhanced DBS.
- Two references which confirm satisfactory standard of work.
- Two references which confirm no issues evident in terms of child.
- Protection, discipline or capability.
- Good knowledge and understanding of general school issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of the relevant Key Stage curriculum.
- Experience of dealing with challenging situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding young people.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to speak to large groups of people e.g Assembly, Parents.
- Significant and recent experience of working with young people.
- Recent experience of working in a school.
- Good administration skills, word processing, data base.
- Understanding and effective use of the SIMS system.
- A commitment to raising student aspirations.
- Ability to organise and conduct effective meetings.
- Ability to produce statistical information using spreadsheets.
- Good organisational skills.
