About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced healthcare chaplain to provide spiritual, pastoral, and religious care in a hospital environment.

The role requires a faith representative who can be endorsed by their faith/belief/philosophical non-belief body.

  • Assess and respond to the spiritual, pastoral, and religious needs of individuals, carers, and staff.
  • Deliver person-centred Spiritual, Pastoral and Religious Care (SPaRC) healthcare chaplaincy addressing individual and collective needs of the hospital community.
  • Respond to people in spiritual distress using professional and pastoral knowledge, skills, and practice.
  • Provide or enable religious rites and ceremonies as requested or required, including prayer, meditation, baptism, naming, and other rites at times of complex surgery, end-of-life, or baby loss.

Some sites offer a 24/7 on-call service for SPaRC emergencies, and you may be required to participate in the on-call rota if working at those sites. Arrange, conduct, or advise on emergency marriages in hospital according to national, legal, endorsing faith body, and Trust guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as an autonomous, qualified practitioner responding to spiritual, pastoral, and religious needs while being accountable to Spiritual Care Leads.
  2. Engage in SPaRC assessment, delivery, enablement, monitoring, and recording addressing individual and collective needs of the hospital community.
  3. Respond to people in spiritual distress using professional and pastoral knowledge, skills, and practice.
  4. Provide or enable religious rites and ceremonies as requested or required.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £40,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience.
