Working collaboratively with Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, we are seeking to recruit a highly motivated nurse, social worker or health professional to support the Designated Professionals with all activities relating to safeguarding and protecting adults and children.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse/health professional with significant experience and genuine commitment to safeguarding. It is also an opportunity for further development.

The post holder will support assurance systems that the services commissioned by Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board provide high quality, safe, and effective care. The role will be key in maintaining effective systems and processes in place across the ICB to achieve organisational compliance with statutory, national and local guidance.

The post holder is expected to fulfil the following key functions:
- Provide expertise on all aspects of safeguarding to ensure that all health service contributions are coordinated and integrated across health organisations

Provide expert professional advice to relevant service providers including independent contractors

Work closely with the Designated Doctor, Designated Nurse’s for Safeguarding, Deputy Designated Nurses for Safeguarding, Safeguarding GP Clinical Leads and Named Professionals to support them in their work

Support the Designated Lead Nurse/ Deputy Designated Professional to ensure the principles and requirements of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) are understood and effectively implemented

Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of local agreed safeguarding improvement plans

Develop and maintain effective partnership working practices with other organisations and agencies to ensure a whole system approach to safeguarding

Ensuring delivery of improved outcomes for the most vulnerable in society; including all types of child and adult abuse and children in care and care leavers

The Lancashire and South Integrated Care Board (ICB) was formally established as a new statutory body on 1 July 2022, replacing the eight clinical commissioning groups across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Provide clinical safeguarding advice to staff responsible for the provision of services across LSCICB and partner organisations ensuring relevant and appropriate information sharing practic

To support safeguarding professionals within NHS community and acute settings, primary care networks, commissioning support services and independent contractors in the management of individual cases which are particularly contentious and complex where there are concerns of compliance with safeguarding MCA/DoLS and soon to be Liberty Protection Safeguards

Implements and ensures that the LSCICB’s arrangements are robust and effective in line with national / local guidance and legislation in respect to safeguarding adults, children, children in care and Mental Capacity Act implementation

Represent LSCICB at commissioning and operational multi-agency meetings; challenging and supporting other professionals to ensure the most appropriate outcome for adults and children are achieved.

To support/establish together with the local authority the implementation of systems and standards to support best practice in the delivery of high-quality services in support of Safeguarding

Contributes to multi-agency working across health and social care partners and other relevant stakeholders
