**Job description**:
The Futures Directorate is to help develop the British Army to be victorious in competition and conflict on Land. The pace of social, political, and technological change, as well as the tempo at which our adversaries adapt will necessitate the Army to succeed differently. Army Futures helps the Army to win by operating as an engine for research, analysis and experimentation, setting the aim and motivating change.

The Deep Effects team sits within Military Capability Plans Branch in Army Futures and is charged with leading the future design and development of Deep Effects capabilities specifically including those Joint Fires assets such as Artillery and Integrated Air and Missile Defence including Ground Based Air Defence and Counter-small Aerial Targets/Counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems. More broadly this includes oversight of all elements of this ‘system of systems’ including Surveillance and Target Acquisition, Fires Platforms, Munitions, Logistics and Command and Control sub-systems.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work in a tight knit, hard-working team and to influence the shape and roles of the Army and its people in the future.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Person specification**:
As the Higher Executive Officer Deep Effects, you will be required to lead Deep Effects Information Management ensuring robust version control and organise key meetings and provide secretariat support as required. In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating branch Business Continuity Planning, including oversight of branch organisation and workforce matters (including onboarding of new staff) and other coordinating functions, including the monitoring and control of all funding allocated to Deep Effects.

You will be expected to assist in the management of Deep Effects-related Innovation, Research and Experimentation (IRE) projects and Urgent Capability Requirements (UCRs), helping to organise and track the identified capability challenges in relation to the 1st Deep Recce Strike Brigade Combat Team and 7th Air Defence Group. This will involve the co-ordination and assisting in the drafting of programme mandates as required, progressing the development of future capability choices in line with higher Defence policy and guidance. You will coordinate the Deep Effects’ input to the annual funding process, including capability audits and balance of investment reviews, and the development of measures for costing.

There will be no line management responsibilities with this role.

- Understanding and experience with Project Management and management of Financial budgets.
- Managing Successful Programmes/ Association of Project Management
- Technical experience in capability or resource planning is desirable.
- Experience of Capability Planning Development will be a significant advantage.
