Oxford, United Kingdom Broken Spoke Bike Co-op Full time

**Responsibilities**:

- Delivery of cycle training in line with the Bikeability delivery guide and National Standards, as organised by the Broken Spoke Bike Co-op.
- Work with other Broken Spoke Cycle Instructors to deliver progressive enjoyable and inclusive sessions.
- Complete programme and course documentation, ensuring accurate assessments of riders’ skills, and deliver feedback in a positive way which encourages development.
- Complete risk assessments of the trainees, cycles, and the training sites (both on and off road locations).
- Collection of consent forms at the start of training sessions.
- Accountable for the safety and welfare of colleagues and trainees.
- Ensure training is delivered in line with Broken Spoke's health and safety policy with an awareness of accident and incident reporting procedures.
- Enable trainees to cycle safely, promoting cycling as a means of transport and a fun, healthy activity.
- Communicate with trainees prior to training to confirm details and logistics.
- Provide the Core Team member with your availability and use the online calendar to keep up to date with bookings.
- Be a good ambassador of Broken Spoke, particularly when supporting trainees when out on the road.

**Person specification**:
**Essential**:

- Qualified Bikeability Instructor and regular, competent and enthusiastic cyclist who is able to impart that enthusiasm on to others.
- Good understanding of local road and traffic environments and awareness of the surrounding areas for accurate navigation.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all trainees including children, parents and schools.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as alone while maintaining the safety of trainees and members of the public.
- Be decisive, set clear boundaries, inspire confidence and give encouragement.
- Good organisational skills.
- Adaptable, flexible and reliable
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate
- Able to use own initiative
- Reflect on own performance to continuously adapt and improve practice

**Desirable**:

- Hold a First Aid qualification*.
- Understanding of basic cycle maintenance.
- Hold a Cycle Repair qualification such as Cytech 1 or Cytech 2
- Experience working or volunteering in a values-led organisation or within a community.
- Experience of working with or training groups of children, teenagers and adults.
- Full training will be provided if you do not meet these requirements. _
