**Job summary**:
In DHSC, we are proud of our purpose - to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment you’d like to work in, we’d love to hear from you.

You will work in the Global Health Group, which plays a crucial role managing the response to international health-related incidents like COVID-19, leading global health and international negotiations, implementing the Trade and Cooperation agreement following EU Exit, and developing the policy on vaccines deployment and therapeutics. Our vision is to keep people’s health safe at home and overseas by building strong relationships with our national and international partners.

**Job description**:
There are roles available in both the Bilateral and Multilateral Teams which sit within the International Directorate. The International Directorate is a friendly, inclusive directorate with a strong emphasis on providing support and opportunities for development.

The Multilateral team leads DHSC’s engagement with organisations including the World Health Organisation, Commonwealth, Human Rights Council, UN General Assembly, the World Economic Forum and other global organisations and funds with a health remit, working closely with colleagues across the directorate and with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to deliver our global health priorities. The Multilateral Team also leads engagement with groups of countries and are responsible for ensuring health interests are represented at G7 and G20.

The Bilateral Team leads DHSC’s engagement with partner countries to advance DHSC’s global health priorities. The team is responsible for DHSC’s bilateral international relations and oversees the international work of DHSCs’ Arm’s Length Bodies such as NHS England. We connect with stakeholders across Government, academia, and the international community to advance ministerial priorities, and respond to humanitarian crises around the world.

This is an opportunity to work in a challenging and varied area to take individual responsibility for policy development and building strong, strategic relationships with other countries and the individuals that represent them. There is also the potential for international travel.

**Person specification**:
**Responsibilities within the bilateral team will include**:

- Supporting the development of the UK’s international health relationships, including:

- Developing knowledge on a targeted set of countries, their interest and expertise in health
- Building up relationships with relevant colleagues in DHSC and FCDO including UK Embassies abroad in these targeted countries
- Developing and progressing actions plans for bilateral health collaboration
- Organising visits from incoming delegations and liaising with FCDO, including UK Embassies on ministerial or senior officials visits overseas, including on:
- Making suggestions on programmes and communications to promote DHSC (and the UK) health interests
- Securing colleagues to speak and/or present DHSC policy and managing logistics
- Coordinating and contributing to briefings for Ministers and senior officials
- Provide support for policy, processes and procedures.
- Liaise with colleagues in DHSC and Arm’s Length Bodies on key health priorities, and across government to ensure work is joined up, particularly in country-to-country dialogues.
- Work closely with other government departments to coordinate DHSC’s input to the UK Government's response to humanitarian crises around the world.
- Coordinate and draft briefing for ministers and senior officials at other ad-hoc bilateral meetings.
- Work flexibly to DHSC priorities where required, such as coordinating and supporting ministers and senior officials on other international engagements, or to be deployed to other teams in the Global Health Group.

**Responsibilities within the multilateral team will include**:
