Why we want you: This placement is an opportunity to volunteer within a small and supportive team who are working to provide relief and support to asylum-seekers living in Hull. The role will be to provide support to the team on our existing projects which includes casework and triage within a drop-in setting, and to provide orientation and integration activities to asylum seekers in Hull as part of a short term goal focussed project. This role would suit someone who has excellent interpersonal skills. Reference To be provided to the Volunteering & Youth team. Location Remote working is possible, but we operate a hybrid model of work, with participation taking part at The British Red Cross, Units 1-3 The Worx, 1, Beverley Road, Hull HU3 1XS with a staff member to assist and with covid secure measures in place. We also hold a drop in every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at Welcome House, 3 Wright St, Hull, HU2 8HR Department Refugee Support Reporting to Lucy Marshall Hours This internship will last a maximum of 12 weeks volunteering. We will be flexible but are looking for a commitment of at least 12 hours p/wk. If you are available and interested in undertaking more hours then this can be arranged. The hours are negotiable to balance your needs and what can be achieved in the role. The ideal days for the service would be Tuesday and Thursday, with Tuesday being most preferable but we will be flexible with this. This may be negotiable between you and your line manager.- Tasks: Mapping the gaps in access to services in migrant communities
- Working with partner organisations to provide integration/wellbeing sessions
- Designing a short term well-being project and measuring outcome.
