**Job title: Head of HR**

**Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week**

**Job Summary**

The post-holder will be required to manage the HR team, to deliver an efficient, effective, value-added HR Service, that meets the needs of the organisation. The post holder is responsible for providing managers with sound HR advice and support with complex case work and other people related issues.

The post-holder must understand and implement the mission, vision and values of the organisation.

**Principle responsibilities**:
Work as an integral part of the senior management team to develop and manage the HR Service, providing a full range of specialist HR advice and support

To develop, implement and promote HR policies and procedures across the organisation

Act as a role model, and in a manner, which positively reflects the values of the organisation.

Ensure effective communication pathways exist between the HR team, management and all staff.

**HR**:
Working closely with Senior Managers, delivering both operational and strategic HR initiatives

Managing the workload and performance of the HR team by coaching, supporting and carrying out regular Review and Feedback sessions

Implementing continuous improvement processes to ensure all HR systems are fit for purpose.

Work with the Operations Director and management team, to ensure both immediate and longer-term resource planning is in place, at the right time, to meet the recruitment and retention needs of the services.

Manage and oversee the scheduling, planning and implementation of all recruitment and selection activity across the company, including interviewing as required and attending recruitment events.

Work with the Operations Director and the HR team, to plan and implement the recruitment strategy of the organisation.

Assisting with and advising on employee relations case management, undertaking complex investigations/ formal meetings as required, when dealing with disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, performance management and sickness absence management cases.

Advising on and supporting with complex, sensitive and escalated disciplinaries, grievances, appeals and any other hearings that could potentially lead to dismissal. This would include, attending hearings, assisting with organising and producing reports, letters and any related administration.

Actively contribute to the development of strategies to minimise absence within the organisation and to meet agreed attendance targets.

Assist managers with flexible working requests and advising on family friendly policies.

To oversee all HR case work undertaken by the HR Assistant, to advise and support as required.

To ensure the timely provision of management information to managers and QGB.

Develop and improve HR systems to meet the needs of the service.

Responsible for driving forward HR projects and initiatives.

Develop line manager capability in the effective management of HR issues

To manage the HR operational elements of any potential redundancies, acquisitions, growth including TUPE transfers, ensuring all consultation and legislative requirements are met.

**Professional**:
Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information, company policy and good practice.

Participation in, and delivery of, the organisation’s appraisal process, that identifies in conjunction with the appraiser individual personal development and training needs, also related to organisational goals and objectives.

Participating and leading in joint working with appropriate experts/agencies.

**Educational**:
Monitoring and maintaining the statutory and mandatory training needs of the HR team.

To deliver any HR management training as appropriate and required, including briefing sessions on HR policies.

Contributing and working towards the service/organisational aims and objectives.

Understand responsibility for respecting and promoting issues of spirituality, equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.

Ensuring all staff read, understand and comply with all relevant organisational and HR policies and procedures.

Oversee delivery, analysis and reporting of a number of service improvement surveys, i.e. service user survey, staff survey.

As the Wellbeing Guardian, work closely with managers, to support local health and wellbeing initiatives
