Reporting to the Deputy Director of Operations, this is the senior, high profile local leader for the Trust. The Head of EPRR is the local ‘face of SWASFT’ and is the senior role model for the service line. The Head of EPRR will provide strong leadership in an open, supportive culture, will shape and set priorities and objectives and be accountable for all aspects of EPRR and Interoperable Capability operational business including the management of 2 Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART), 4 Helicopter Emergency Medical Units (HEMS), Pre-hopsital enhanced and Critical Care. The Head of EPRR has line management responsibility and accountability for the EPRR Manager, HART Managers, EPRR and HART Training Manager, Command Development Manager and Air Operations Manager and is responsible for the health and wellbeing of all staff working in the in the service line and Departments.
The Head of EPRR will work closely with and provide the Deputy Director of Operations with support, acting with integrity and professionalism at all times. The Head of EPRR is a member of the Deputy Director of Operations senior management team and as such will be expected to participate fully and constructively in all aspects of the departments business. This will include assisting in making decisions that impact on the wider Operations Directorate and Trust
- Influence and negotiate with strategic partners during planning and response to significant incidents and events.
- Work in collaboration and partnership with health organisations ensuring commonality and practical mutual aid exists and contingency planning arrangements are both cohesive and effective.
- Providing positive, inspirational and highly visible leadership supporting and promoting the Trust’s vision and values by being a role model while managing the Trust’s EPRR functions
- Interpret highly sensitive and complex information and adapt briefings to junior commanders and staff to an appropriate level whilst maintaining the sensitive nature of the message. E.g. Pandemic planning & response, Salisbury nerve agent incidents etc.
- To co-operate with partner Trusts ensuring all major incident plans meet all current legislation and guidance.
- Provide strategic leadership to ensure that the Trust plans and prepares for major events and mass gathering festivals taking place within the Trusts area.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge of the national service specification’s and national contract standards for all EPRR and Interoperable capabilities.
- Hold the National Diploma for Health Emergency Planning Resilience and Response (DIP HEPRR)
- Strategic Commander Trained and participate in relevant on-call rota
- With full budget control ensure levels of resources are maintained within financial limits.
