Exeter, United Kingdom South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic, dedicated and professional individuals to support the Executive Director of Operations and the Deputy Director of Operations with the overall effective and efficient running of Operations working with Heads of Operations to deliver high-quality, pre-hospital care to our patients by competent, motivated people.

A key responsibility of the role is to make sure that Operations is professionally represented both internally and externally and as such this role will be required to collaborate and engage with colleagues across the Trust ensuring that services are delivered in an integrated manner. This will include the requirement to engage in high level of communication which may involve contentious/emotive content involving internal and external stakeholders.

This also includes working collaboratively across a number of managerial and clinical networks including LRFs, LHRPs and Health Oversight and Scrutiny Committees as appropriate.

This role is line manager to the County Heads of Operations.

The postholders contribution to the development of the Trust Strategy is valuable and they will therefore work collaboratively with the Deputy Director of Operations, Assistant Director of Operational Strategy and the central Strategy and Transformation Team to implement the strategy.

Please see Job Description for more details.

The post holder has responsibility for Area performance in its widest sense and as part of this will:

- Provide visible leadership to teams, always role modelling the Trust values and behaviours.
- Embed performance management arrangements across the Area focusing on patient outcomes and delivery.
- Support the Deputy Director of Operations in implementing plans to improve the service, overseeing the delivery of national key performance indicators (KPIs), Ambulance Quality Indicators (AQIs) and locally agreed targets e.g., Quality Incentive Schemes/CQUINS where they exist.
- Share best practice to drive improvements in the service we provide.
- Ensure the continual improvement of the quality of services, safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish.
- Ensure effective employee relations arrangements are in place and are consistent across the Area.
- Address key areas of improvement as identified within staff surveys and other feedback including the implementation of cultural improvement actions.
- Ensure collaborative arrangements are in place across the Area and at all levels to ensure functions within Operations come together regularly. These include Resource Management, Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response (EPRR), Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and Fleet & Equipment.
- Continuing and enhancing the work already commenced to better integrate Operations with other teams within the Trust.

At South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) we have a culture where everyone is valued for being themselves. Our aim is to work together to promote the most inclusive environment possible, which attracts people from the widest range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich the work that we do together, for the benefit of all of our employees, our patients and the communities we serve. We offer flexible working opportunities, inclusive policies and a range of feedback mechanisms to support individuals and to enable a positive, welcoming environment where our people and their careers can thrive in.
