Following a review of our team structure and the recent appointment to the Head of Safeguarding position. We are excited to advertise the role of Deputy Head of Safeguarding.

This role will be integral to the development of the team and delivery of the safeguarding agenda at South Western Ambulance Service foundation Trust (SWASFT). This is an exciting role that will see the postholder supporting the Head of Safeguarding at a time of change as the safeguarding team plans to expand further.

You will support the develop and implement Strategic plans for safeguarding children and adults at risk to improve quality, governance, assurance and ultimately the patient care we provide to those most vulnerable.

Along with supporting the Head of Safeguarding with the new structure and functions within the team you will line manage the Safeguarding Specialists and Safeguarding Educational Specialist.

We are looking for an individual who is a registered (Health/Social Care) professional with extensive safeguarding experience as well as previous / current NHS or social care experience and potential management or change management experience.

You must be a driven, committed individual with a high level of motivation. Who has a passion for safeguarding.

In return we will ensure that you received excellent wellbeing and support, regular safeguarding specific training and clinical/ safeguarding supervision.
- Support the Head of Safeguarding to ensure Trust compliance with safeguarding requirements and standards.
- Manage the Safeguarding Specialists ensuring their PDR, performance, supervision and development are managed effectively.
- Develop and contribute to the Trust safeguarding strategy.
- Review national and local safeguarding documents implementing any required changes to ensure trust meets best practice and is complaint with legislative requirements.
- Ensuring timely and effective safeguarding supervision, support and guidance to ensure staff welfare and compliance targets are achieved.
- Ensuring safeguarding records of advice and supervision are maintained and provide regular reports.
- To contribute to the planning and development of child and adult at risk safeguarding systems and arrangements within the Trust.
- To lead to the development of safeguarding policies, guidelines and standards for all services within the Trust and ensuring they are updated to reflect best practice as informed by serious case reviews, audits, new legislation and guidance.
- Lead investigations into safeguarding incidents or to offer advice and support to the nominated lead and ensure all the relevant learning is extracted and shared across the Trust.
- Participate in the review of safeguarding concerns/ referrals that are raised by staff, to consider trends and any training needs.
