The very busy Practice Management Team work in the Business Development & Change Team in Neighbourhoods & Housing and are responsible for identifying changes in policy, legislation and standards and translating these into policy and practice, providing policy advice and expert support to staff dealing with complex housing cases and delivering projects that help us to improve services for our customers. The team regularly work with a wide range of colleagues across the Council, with other landlords and suppliers.

There are currently two Practice Management Officers in the Practice Management Team (including this post). The role includes reviewing policies and drafting new ones, often in response to external drivers such as new legislation or government policy or regulatory activity. Practice Management Officers need to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people and are able to use appropriate project management techniques and methodologies to deliver service-wide and sometimes complex change projects. The team provide support to operational staff to manage complex cases and offer expert advice, so Practice Management Officers need to have a housing qualification or experience in housing. Practice Management Officers respond to enquiries relating to safeguarding matters and attend meetings where sensitive and sometimes upsetting issues are discussed. The team offer a supportive and friendly environment with great learning opportunities.

The successful applicant will have an interest in working flexibly to support colleagues to deliver a wide range of service improvement and business change. They will be curious, have great communication skills, be well organised and thorough and have experience of undertaking change management, planning and implementing new ways of working.
