**Job summary**:
BDUK is a dynamic delivery focussed Portfolio using a breadth of products to deliver Gigabit capable broadband connections across the UK. The Local Delivery Leads work within teams (Devolve, Northern, Central and Southern) working closely with other Local Delivery Leads and the Head of Regional Delivery. You will act as the lead for the project/s in the geographical area South East working with internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of projects through a Local Delivery Plan.

As a Local Delivery Lead you will work with a mix of career Civil Servants and expert contractors; including telecommunications professionals, finance, digital & commercial specialists. You will also work with a number of internal and external stakeholders in a Government led and funded commercial delivery programme. You will have the opportunity to work in a high profile, high performing business at the cutting edge of the technology centre with regular exposure to Ministers and senior stakeholders across the whole country.

**Job description**:

- Develop and maintain with Local Bodies a holistic local delivery plan to ensure near-universal gigabit coverage
- Successfully manage multiple projects to achieve gigabit delivery, within time cost and quality constraints, in line with the UK Government’s Project Delivery Capability Framework and provide regular progress reporting.
- Track and proactively manage project related actions and decisions to drive delivery to plan and inform stakeholders of project progress.
- Build and nurture mutually supportive relationships with Local Bodies and other Public Sector partners at the local level and establish regular dialogue to promote problem solving, teamwork and risk sharing across the locality.
- Support Local Bodies and OGDs with the delivery of locally led communications, working in line with the DCMS Comms & Engagement Strategy and BDUK Engagement team
- Understand and ensure alignment with the project assurance process and approval points within BDUK’s lifecycle management process
- Work with Commercial, Strategy and Local Body partners to identify and manage dependencies within product deployment, ensuring activities across the BDUK product portfolio are coordinated and scheduled appropriately.
- Coordinate and manage any project specific changes in line with agreed change control processes within allocated timescales and manage grant claims and funding requirements.
- Provide informed advice and feedback to senior BDUK management and share best practice and lessons learnt with colleagues and stakeholders to maximise effectiveness of delivery.
- Manage project closure activities including conducting lessons learnt and provision of information for benefits realisation purposes
- Provide day to day leadership to the Local Delivery Manager in the area, coordinating and fostering teamwork

**Person specification**:
**Essential skills**
- Strong project management skills, experience in using PPM tools and techniques
- Proven track record of operating flexibly and delivering results in challenging circumstances
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build long term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to communicate effectively, synthesising information to portray key messages and facilitate effective decision making
- Ability to prioritise activities to deliver strong strategic outcomes
- Project management qualification e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner - Agile Project Management Practitioner - APM Project Management Qualification - APM Project Professional Qualification

**Desirable skills**
- Knowledge of the telecommunications industry
- Previous experience working with Local Bodies and/or OGDs
