**What you’ll do as a Functional Skills Specialist**

As a Functional Skills Specialist, you will enable and support our Vocational Trainers to ensure that English and Maths are delivered efficiently and effectively. As well as reviewing and developing resources and course materials. Everyday duties will include:

- Coaching and developing delivery teams to hold the required skills and knowledge for English and Maths
- Delivering English and Maths consistency sessions
- Monthly monitoring of Functional Skills performance and liaising with Area Managers and Quality Assurers to identify areas of strength and weaknesses
- Enabling delivery staff to competently and confidently understand and use teaching and assessment resources for Functional Skills
- Aiding delivery staff to plan and target effective Functional Skills related teaching sessions
- Providing feedback on course materials, ensuring adherence to the _DfE’s Subject Content for English and Maths, February 2018_. As well as providing feedback on ease of use and suitability
- Assisting with resource development work where required
- Contributing to the ongoing development of Functional Skills consistency sessions

**About you**

We’re looking for a competent and confident individual, with an excellent understanding of Functional Skills. You’ll also need the following skills and experience:

- Previous experience within a Functional Skills support role
- Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications within English and Maths
- An understanding of regulations and requirements (such as, ESFA Funding rules and regulations, Apprenticeship Accountability Framework, Education Inspection Framework, High Quality Apprenticeship, and Awarding Organisation specifications)
- A sound understanding of apprenticeship delivery requirements

A Functional Skills Specialist with HIT can expect a competitive starting salary of £22,000 - £30,000 depending on your skills and experience.
