Join the Dorset Council as our Policy & Engagement Lead and step into a pivotal role amongst the scenic beauty of one of the UK's most picturesque counties. Here you have the power to genuinely impact and uplift our community.

**What’s in it for you**:
This role is an opportunity to join a lively and challenging work environment where every day is a fresh learning curve. You will lead teams with commitment to maintaining and surpassing the quality our community deserves. Our approach revolves around continuous professional growth, ensuring you develop your skills and follow your career path.

Dorset is a stunning corner of the UK, regularly featuring amongst the most beautiful of counties. We have a population, on average, much older than the rest of the country: a fantastic body of energy for vibrant community activities across our towns, villages, coastline and countryside. But of course, that’s a population that also needs support with ageing. Together with a significant population of adults of working age with support needs, Dorset is a place where getting the right support, at the right time, and in the right place, is absolutely fundamental to helping all of our people to live their idea of “A Better Life” - and that’s why we built our adult social care strategies on that vision.

In Dorset, adult social care commissioning is big business: more than £100m is spent in the local care market, providing support to all adults who need it, including one of the largest proportions of older people in the country. Working with the local care market, the NHS, our operational colleagues: all of these relationships are critical to our success in commissioning the right support to meet these needs.

Our Adult Commissioning and Improvement team has undergone a dynamic restructure, in which additional investment was made into the team, and we reorganised to better align ourselves to deliver our plans and strategies. Whether in strategy development, project management, engagement, strategic commissioning, contract management or brokerage, Dorset is the kind of place where you will be able to see your contribution to commissioning really changing lives for local people.

Following our investment we have a number of vacancies, and we are seeking dedicated colleagues with a passion for working with local providers to develop high quality care services for the residents of Dorset.

**What you will be doing**:
As a Policy & Engagement Lead each day promises an engaging mix of leadership, strategy, and hands-on engagement in pivotal projects. You'll be at the centre of co-ordinating teams that ensure impeccable performance management within their designated services.

Your responsibilities span across overseeing the strategic development of data systems, meticulous data analysis, and championing continuous enhancement in performance. But that's not all. Your role delves into various specialised sectors - from steering e-commerce and procurement strategies to ensuring high quality assurance and astute budget management.

As the representative of your service domain, you'll be Dorset Council's ambassador in numerous internal and external forums, nurturing relationships that bolster our unparalleled service quality. With every decision, you shape work standards and significantly influence the council's procedures and practices.

**About you**:
You're on a quest not just for a job, but a purpose. You hold an NVQ 4/Degree in a relevant discipline or a comparable accolade. This academic foundation is amplified by your rich experience in performance management roles, where you've showcased your leadership flair, especially within large-scale organisations or local authorities.

Your acumen in performance management is enriched by your adeptness at grasping the intricacies of local authorities and their constantly evolving IT landscapes. Communication is your strength - both in written prose and eloquent speech, enabling you to adeptly navigate intricate situations.

**Dorset Council: A great place to work**

We’re passionate about making Dorset a great place to live, work and visit. Working for us should be no exception.

At Dorset Council we:

- provide more than 450 services to over 300,000 residents
