We are expanding our extended leadership team in Dorset as a result of internal promotion and increased investment and are looking for outstanding leaders to join a team that is highly ambitious for the children and families of Dorset.

**What you can expect to be doing**

We firmly believe that all children in Dorset should have the best start in life and this role will provide leadership to all of children’s services in the delivery of this priority. Reporting to the Corporate Director of Commissioning and Partnerships, you will take the lead for this important piece of work on behalf of the leadership team and will be the point of contact for Ofsted for all early years related work.

You will have a mixture of direct line management and matrix management responsibilities. In your direct team you will be responsible for a number of programmes of work, including childcare sufficiency, social mobility, holiday activities and food programme, household support fund and our supporting families programme.

You will have matrix leadership responsibilities for early years related activities delivered in our integrated locality teams including Portage, Early Years Support and Advice Officers, Parenting and Activity Workers, Family Workers and childcare provision.

**About you**

You will contribute to the development of strong partnerships with early years settings, schools, Police, NHS, voluntary and community sector and other local stakeholders to develop a Dorset wide strategy to ensure all children have the best start in life.

You will have a comprehensive knowledge and experience of early years provision and will value the contribution of all professional disciplines, creating a culture of respect, transparency, and collaboration.

As a strong and versatile systems leader, you will be deeply committed to co-production and have the ability to drive change forward by inspiring, developing and motivating people internally and externally. You will be a strong communicator and have a high level of written and oral communication skills.

You will be highly proficient in the use of data and evidence to inform practice and future service developments, with the ability to identify and implement continuous improvement. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to effectively analyse operational performance and put in place mitigating action where required.

You will work flexibly and be available for work across the week and be available to attend evening meetings.
