You will be working within the Paediatric and TYA Haematology team based predominantly at the LRI. You will be responsible for the coordination of patient care by working closely as part of a forward-thinking team, providing a high standard of service and liaison with clinicians, patients and staff at all levels.

You will be accountable for the day-to-day administration and coordination of clerical procedures concerning Haematological patients, this will include booking tests and following up on results, taking referrals and arranging appointments which will require accurate and timely patient data input through proficient use of the computerised patient administration system. This is a new role for a fixed term period which will allow you to use your own initiative, develop your own ideas and make the role your own.
- Working closely with Consultant Haematologists and Haematology Liaison nurses in coordinating patient care.
- Assist the haematology liaison nurses in taking messages from patients/families when contacted and ensuring these are brought to the attention of the wider team for action.
- To be responsible for communicating with patients regarding appointments, investigation dates and relevant updates.
- To be responsible for booking blood tests and procedures on ward 27 or ward 28 day care.
- To receive Paediatric referrals and take responsibility for liaising with Consultants as to the urgency of appointment required.
- To be responsible for arranging ad hoc appointments for haematology patients when needed and communicating this to patients/families.
- To learn and be responsible for part completion of relevant forms for haematology procedures.
- Be responsible for producing information packs for patients/families with relevant information regarding diagnosis, chemotherapy, fertility, whole genome sequencing.
- To assist haematology team in referring patients to relevant disease-specific MDTs.
- To be responsible for patient-related liaison with other specialities, primary care and other hospital trusts when needed

- Be responsible for implementing national, regional and local initiatives relating to performance targets and comply with The Patient Access & Data Management Policy.
- To liaise with the nurse in charge of clinic, ensuring the patients are kept informed of any delays.
- To be responsible for the receipt of all investigation results received in the department for your clinic, collating these and bringing them to the attention of the medical staff in the manner specified by each Consultant.
- To follow-up any investigation results not received within agreed timescales.

- To provide a courteous, professional service at all times with regard to patient liaison when on outpatient clinic reception.

- To be responsible for notifying the administration Supervisor/ administration manager of any Overseas Visitors/Private Patients, according to Trust guidelines
- To work to national and local targets and standards, when issues and challenges arise to report immediately to Administrative Manager.
- Ensure that you maintain confidentiality at all times.
