Job Scope:
The Royal Society Grants team is responsible for administering the Society’s grants programmes including the major fellowships, international collaborations, capacity building initiatives, innovation and industry grants programmes.
The postholder will provide essential administrative support to the Grant Operations team to ensure that the Royal Society’s Grants schemes and programmes are being delivered in the most effective manner.
The Grants Operations Officer’s workload is primarily project based and would suit an individual looking to develop their knowledge of research funding and grant making and gain experience in process documentation, system management and business improvement.

**Hours**: 35 hours per week (full time)
**Pay Band**: B
**Salary**: £28,000

**Responsibilities**:
- Support the Senior Manager, Grant Operations in the delivery of a portfolio of projects designed to improve the Royal Society’s management of grants, specifically, ensuring that all projects are appropriately planned, organised, documented and delivered through to completion, keeping to agreed timing and scope.
- Support the appointment process for members of grant assessment committees, including maintaining contact details, ensuring the Grants Section are aware of key dates and producing appointment and retirement letters.
- Liaise with colleagues across the Grants Operations team and the wider Grants team to maintain and update the Grants team sharepoint site to ensure that all shared information resources are accurate and current.
- Support the Grants Section in their use of systems including the grant management system, Flexi-Grant.
- Ensure that Grants Section document storage is consistent with the Document Management Policy and keep track of retention schedules for key documents.
- Support the day-to-day activities of the Operations team
- Act as a liaison between the Grant operations team and a range of stakeholders, including the UK and International grant teams, Engagement, the IT department and the Fellowships Office.
- Support the activity of the Operations team in ensuring that the information relating to applicants and grants holders is correct, including managing organisational contact details, maintaining analytical metadata, and ensuring that data protection requirements are being met.
- Work collaboratively with others to support continuous ongoing improvement and implementation of good practice in the context of grant-making, including contributing to review of documentation, procedures and processes to ensure funding provision is delivered efficiently and effectively
