Job description

The Road Safety Trust is looking to recruit a Grants Officer to join its busy Grants Team and support its grant-making programmes. The successful applicant will be a well organised team player with good attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills, the interpersonal skills to build strong working relations and an ability to work on their own initiative.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title: Grants Officer**

**Responsible to: Grants and Impact Director, The Road Safety Trust**

**Location: Home-based**

**Salary: £30,000-£32,000 FTE, pro-rata’d to 3 days per week (£18,000 - £19,200)**

**Hours: 3 days/wk**

**Job type: Permanent**

**Purpose of the role**

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

The Grants Officer will:

- Participate and contribute to the team’s forward planning of grant programmes and operations
- Assess, monitor and manage a portfolio of road safety grants
- Participate in presentations and webinars on the work of the Trust
- Represent the Trust externally at events including on-line events
- Take on specific research in relation to funded grants and new areas of interest as required
- Support the Grants and Impact Director with information as required for Board and Committee reports
- Contribute to the efficient running of the Trust

General
- Support the general activities of the charity
- Build and maintain relationships with grantees and other stakeholders
- Support the Grants & Impact Director, Grants Team and Trustees and carry out any such other relevant duties as might be reasonably required.

**Person Specification**

**Essential**
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex written information
- Well-developed verbal communication skills
- Experience of assessing or managing projects
- Good numerical skills and the ability to assess financial information
- The ability to work professionally with a wide range of people
- A high level of IT literacy with a confidence to learn and use new software
- Excellent written English with attention to detail
- The ability to work as a key member of a small team
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage their own workload
- A good understanding of and commitment to the charitable sector
- An understanding of research

**Desirable**
- Understanding and experience of grant-making
- Experience of grant making databases
- Knowledge of the areas of The Road Safety Trust’s work
