We have an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed, forward-thinking Raw Materials organisation within Indirect Procurement. As the Senior Strategic Buyer you will be reporting to the Strategy Procurement Manager, you will have global responsibility for JLR’s long-term commercial strategy for interior surface materials, including leather, synthetics, fabrics and têxtiles, across the JLR House of Brands. You will utilise your experience to analyse, understand and predict the external market with a core focus on socio-cultural, economic, ethical and environmental factors for these category areas; fundamental to JLR’s future client offering and decarbonisation targets.

**WHAT TO EXPECT**

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- You will be responsible for the creation, negotiation and implementation of long-term commercial plans and contract framework agreements for interior surface material categories, constantly investigating opportunities with new and emerging market trends.
- You will be accountable for the Strategic Category Plan, ensuring all relevant data and key factors are captured in order to make strategic recommendations. You will ensure the global commercial category strategy is effectively deployed throughout all of JLR and the external supply chain; influencing stakeholders where appropriate on aligned supplier engagement approaches.
- You will support the development of the global supplier footprint for interior surface materials, working across the supply base from global market leaders to new entrants focussed on innovation in the field; as well as working to optimise the highly complex, global tiered supply chain.
- You will drive contribution and adherence to our challenging, long-term corporate sustainability targets through de-carbonisation of your category areas and a focus on circularity and LCA (life-cycle assessment).
- You will be responsible for driving successful relationships with a range of key internal stakeholders, often at manager and senior leadership level. This is a pivotal role that will act as a core conduit for true cross functional working, representing strategic procurement across key teams and functions throughout procurement, industrial operations, materials engineering, creative/design, strategy/sustainability, finance and legal.
- Additionally, you will be required to establish external relationships with key third-party organisations such as industry associations and relevant working bodies, as well as representing JLR at key industry conferences and events.

**WHAT YOU WILL NEED**

**Essential**:

- Knowledge/experience relevant to interior surface material categories, including leather, synthetics (PU/PVC/bio-materials), fabrics and têxtiles, or other relevant raw materials category/market experience.
- Capability to challenge existing thinking positively with innovative ideas, whilst building trust and credibility through experience and personal style.
- An excellent communicator who can convey complex ideas to key stakeholders to influence cross functional alignment.
- A strong influencer, confident leading complex supplier negotiations and influencing internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data for enhanced understanding and creative problem solving.
- Highly effective at building relationships and networking, proactively collaborating with key stakeholders internally and externally.
- An individual with strong presentation skills, able to clearly present and articulate complex issues.
